Plant a Tree in Cornelio and help yourself to become Carbon-Neutral
Why? A tree will absorb 750 kgs of carbon dioxide in its lifetime. That means that each of us in the Western world needs to plant approximately 10 trees per year to offset our carbon dioxide output.
Trees are the planet's best terrestrial means of absorbing CO2. A tree is basically a 3-D carbon sink, absorbing CO2 and turning it into oxygen, leaves, branches, wood and bark, where the Carbon is "locked up". No human technology can surpass the tree as a means of absorbing CO2.

What do I get?
We will plant one or more trees JUST for YOU. We will irrigate them for 3 years until they are established and we will protect it until it is large enough to look after itself
We will plant your tree(s) during the next tree planting season (November to April). You can nominate one of the following species: Stone Pine, Encina Oak, Poplar, Tamarisk, Pomegranate or Carob. All these species are local to this area and are drought tolerant.
We will send you a photograph of your tree, every year for 5 years, a certificate of planting, and the satellite coordinates of your tree so you can watch it grow on Google Earth!
Give a Tree as a Gift!
If you wish to give a tree to someone as a gift, just send us an email with your paypal reference and the details of who is to receive the tree, with any special message and we will send the gift-wrapped presentation to your nominee, all on recycled paper using bio-packaging.
Husbandry and Silvaculture: In line with best silvaculture practice, every tree is treated as an individual. Every single tree in Cornelio is individually identified and its treatment and behaviour is noted using a sophisticated database system linked to a GPS device. This ensures that trees receive remedial treatment in the event of disease or damage.
What does Cornelio do? Every year we plant hundreds of trees on non-cultivated land to help re-establish the natural forest cover of this area and help encourage wildlife of the Montes de Malaga.
Its a costly exercise in time, materials, irrigation equipment, and water. By buying a tree you are helping us expand our tree planting work, and you are helping yourself become carbon neutral!
